Delicate Sencha – harmony of taste and health

Exquisite and delicate, excellent for the digestive system and to help burn fat.

Sencha is a Japanese green tea prepared from whole leaves. Its infusion is characterised by a subtle, refined flavour and aroma, which simultaneously supports digestion. It is especially recommended after meals, it helps the body to absorb nutrients. Thanks to its high antioxidant content, it protects the cells from oxidative stress, slows down the aging process and supports the natural immunity of the body.

Sencha is also valued by diabetics. The bitterness in it help to regulate blood sugar levels, stimulate bile secretion, enhance appetite and facilitate digestion. What is more, the polyphenols present in this tea speed up metabolism and help to reduce body fat.

The highest quality Sencha comes from the first harvest which takes place from late April to mid-May. Although most tea leaves are harvested by machine, the most valuable teas are made from hand-picked leaves. In some regions of Japan, harvest is repeated every 45 days, up to four times a year. However, it is the first two harvests that provide the best quality leaves: tea from the first harvest is distinguished by its exceptional subtlety, while the second harvest tea has a more intense flavour and higher tannin content as it matures in full sunlight.

The Sencha production process involves steaming the freshly harvested leaves, drying them and rolling them into their characteristic slim needles. To fully extract its flavour and properties, brew it for about 2 minutes with water at 65-80°C.
